3. Data we collect
a) Account & authentication data
When you sign in, we may collect:
- Apple Sign-In identifier
- Session tokens required to keep you signed in
We do not receive your Apple ID email address unless you explicitly allow it.
b) Energy service connections (optional)
If you connect external energy services, we may store identifiers and authentication credentials required to access those services on your behalf.
Tesla Energy
- Tesla energy site ID
- Energy configuration data such as battery, inverter, and export settings
- Encrypted OAuth tokens required to access Tesla Energy APIs
We cannot access your Tesla account password.
Octopus Energy
- API key (stored securely)
- Account number
- Tariff and meter identifiers
myenergi / Zappi
- Zappi hub serial number
- Zappi API key
These credentials are encrypted at rest on our servers and used only to retrieve EV charging telemetry.
c) Device & app data
We may collect:
- App-generated device identifier
- Push notification tokens
- App usage required to deliver features
d) Automation & configuration data
If you enable automations, we may store:
- Automation rules you create
- Execution history, including success, failure, or blocked status
- Timing and configuration metadata
e) Energy telemetry data
To provide live energy views and automations, MAP Energy may retrieve and store limited operational telemetry from connected services, such as:
- Grid import and export power
- Solar generation
- Battery state of charge
- Home energy consumption
- EV charging power
- EV charger connection or charging state
This data is associated with your energy system but does not contain personally identifiable information such as names, home addresses, or billing details.

We do not collect:
- Names, home addresses, or phone numbers
- Payment or billing information
- Precise location data
- Marketing profiles or advertising identifiers
We do not sell your data.
5. How we use your data
We use your data only to:
- Provide live energy views
- Run user-configured automations
- Sync energy data from connected services
- Retrieve EV charging telemetry
- Determine charger connection and charging status
- Detect EV charging sessions and support related automations
- Send notifications you enable
- Maintain security and prevent abuse
All processing is limited to functionality required for MAP Energy to operate.
6. Legal basis for processing (UK GDPR)
We process data under:
- Contractual necessity – to provide app functionality

- Sensitive credentials such as API keys and authentication tokens are encrypted at rest
- Backend infrastructure is hosted on Cloudflare
- Access is restricted and logged

- myenergi / Zappi APIs

- Account and configuration data is retained while you use the app
