Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of the MAP Energy application and related services.
1. About MAP Energy
MAP Energy is an energy monitoring and automation application operated by Aptica Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales.
The service allows users to connect supported energy systems and view telemetry, create automations, and receive notifications related to their energy usage.
MAP Energy is currently intended for users located in the United Kingdom.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 13 years old to use MAP Energy.
- If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian.
- You must ensure that any energy systems connected to MAP Energy belong to you or that you have permission to connect them.
3. Service Description
MAP Energy may provide the following functionality:
- Viewing energy telemetry from connected systems
- Monitoring solar generation, battery state of charge, and grid import/export
- Monitoring EV charging power
- Creating automations based on energy conditions
- Sending notifications based on events
- Displaying data retrieved from third-party services
Certain features may require a paid subscription. Subscriptions unlock premium features such as advanced automation capabilities.
4. Third-Party Services
MAP Energy integrates with third-party services, including:
- Tesla Energy APIs
- Octopus Energy APIs
- myenergi / Zappi APIs
- Apple Sign-In
- Apple Push Notification Service
These services are operated by third parties and subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
MAP Energy does not control the availability, accuracy, or behaviour of these services.
5. Automations and Energy Controls
MAP Energy may allow users to configure automations that interact with connected services.
- Automations may fail to execute
- External services may be unavailable
- Energy prices or tariffs may change
- Device states may change outside the app
You must ensure that any energy configuration changes remain appropriate for your system and tariff conditions.
6. Service Availability
MAP Energy is provided "as is" and "as available".
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.
Maintenance, infrastructure failures, or third-party outages may affect functionality.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aptica Ltd shall not be liable for:
- Energy costs or tariff decisions
- Charging schedules or automation behaviour
- Battery usage or export configuration
- Loss caused by third-party API failures
- Indirect or consequential losses
- Loss of energy revenue or savings
You remain responsible for verifying all energy actions and automation behaviour.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded under UK law.
8. User Responsibilities
- Provide accurate credentials when connecting services
- Disconnect services you no longer wish to use
- Review automation settings regularly
- Ensure your energy configuration remains appropriate
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access if the service is misused, third-party access is revoked, or the platform is discontinued.
Users may stop using the app or disconnect services at any time.
10. Changes to the Service
We may modify, update, or discontinue parts of the service at any time.
Features, integrations, and subscription functionality may change over time.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
